Rouse International expands in South East Asia with new Thailand office
Rouse & Co International, the international intellectual property firm, has set up in Thailand. In common with the rest of the Rouse business, the Bangkok office specialises exclusively in Intellectual Property, handling everything from trade mark clearance and filing through to licensing, litigation and enforcement.
The Thailand operation, which opened its doors at the beginning of October, builds on an already strong Rouse presence in the Middle & Far East with existing offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Dubai. Principal contact there is new recruit Fabrice Mattei, an internationally experienced lawyer who, most recently, ran the Intellectual Property department of respected Bangkok commercial firm Mongkolnavin.
"We have always managed a sizeable caseload in Thailand and setting up a local operation was the next logical step. In a magazine poll last year we were actually voted one of the top 5 Intellectual Property firms in Bangkok without even having an office there. I think that told us something." says Managing Director of Rouse, Rupert Ross-Macdonald. "Once we met Fabrice, it was simply a matter of timing. He shares a common approach and vision with the rest of us and has already assembled an impressive cross-functional team".
Rouse, a UK headquartered business, has expanded significantly since its foundation 10 years ago and now employs nearly 200 staff in 8 countries. Originally an anti-counterfeiting firm which became well known for its innovative and enthusiastic approach to Intellectual Property enforcement, it has in recent years broadened its practice to encompass a full range of non-contentious Intellectual Property and e-commerce services, as well as a burgeoning international trade marks filing practice."
