Rouse Vietnam Speaks to City of London Lord Mayor

As part of the Lord Mayor of the City of London's visit to Vietnam, Rouse is delighted to have been invited to participate in a Legal Services Roundtable being hosted by the Law Society of England and Wales and The British Embassy on 3 July 2009.

With a focus on the theme, 'Vietnam's Emerging Economy and The English Legal Profession', the aim of the event is to showcase British law firms in Vietnam.  Rouse will be joined on the speaking platform by four other British firms and the audience will be made up of top ranking government officials, together with local and international businesses.

Son Doan and Patsy Day will be speaking on the topic of 'Vietnam and the Pursuit of IP Protection'. Patsy says of the opportunity to speak at such a prestigious event:
"It is three years since the new Vietnam IP law came into effect and the administrative and court infrastructure are still struggling to come to grips with the changes. We hope to raise awareness of the challenges faced by brand owners trying to enforce their rights in this jurisdiction and also to highlight the need for specialist IP judges to deal with IP cases".

Following the recent establishment of the Vietnamese Bar Association, and in conjunction with the Lord Mayor of London’s visit to Vietnam, Rouse have been invited to meet the new President of the Federation - Mr Le Thuc Anh.  The Vietnamese Bar Association was founded in May 2009.  It aims to ensure that Vietnamese lawyers are well qualified and experienced in order to facilitate judicial reform and to assist the country with its programmes of modernisation, industrialisation and international economic integration.

Son Doan is thrilled to be meeting Mr Le and considers that it will be a unique and invaluable opportunity to build relations between Rouse and the local Vietnamese legal profession.
