Alert 330 UAE - Important Trademark Registry Changes
On 30 June, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Trademark Registry issued a notice to all trade mark agents and representatives that as of 1 July 2009 the 60-day period previously allowed for trade mark applicants to attend to the payment of publication and registration fees for accepted UAE trade mark applications will be reduced to only 30 days. Failure to make these payments within the 30 day period may lead to abandonment of the trade mark application.
Rouse's Dubai office will be reviewing all recent acceptances to ensure the revised deadlines are recorded and met. Where your UAE applications are handled by other representatives, we recommended you contact those representatives to ensure they are aware of the revised practice and ready to meet the new deadlines for you.
