Louise Barnes Scholarship Programme
The Louise Barnes Scholarship Programme - Rouse's programme to support further education and training for employees.
The Louise Barnes Scholarship was introduced in 2008. Louise Barnes was Rouse's Chief Operating Officer from December 2005 to 19 July 2008 when she lost her very brave battle with cancer. Given her enthusiasm for investing in and developing the skills of our people around the world, we could think of no better way to commemorate Louise and what she felt most passionate about than by introducing our new scholarship programme in her honour.
The programme is aimed at Rouse employees. It is the 'umbrella' for a number of people within Rouse to embark on a variety of different courses of study each year.
We are proud to provide members of staff with the opportunity to study in a way that they might not otherwise have. The Louise Barnes Scholarships reflects her belief in the benefits of developing our people.
The first four Louise Barnes Scholars were James Elliott (then London office, now Dubai), Taryn Byrne (London), Kola Lawani (Dubai) and Carol Wang (Shanghai). The scholarship focussed on the following:
-
Bringing two employees from outside the UK to London for 13 weeks to study for the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary's College, University of London.
- Sponsoring two UK based employees to take a masters course in IP Law run by The Institute of Brand and Innovation Law at University College, London University.
